Adding Form Fields (Tran Type)

The Tran Type form enables you to add form fields to design the gate forms for the selected gate transaction type at the selected gate stage. You can specify the fields that N4 must display on a form. You can also control the order and the display modes of a field. In addition, you can specify whether a field is a required field or an optional field during data entry.

If you do not use bookings to receive export containers, then you must add the appropriate routing form fields, such as the port of loading and port of discharge, to the gate transaction type form at an ingate stage. This is required so that N4 saves this data against the unit, even if data entry for these fields is not required.

To add a form field:

  1. From the Field ID lookup field, select the field ID that you want to add to the gate form for the selected gate transaction type.

In the Field ID lookup field, you can use wildcard characters to find specific field IDs.

For more information on using a lookup field, see Using lookup fields.

For the Tran Type form only, if you have configured gate transaction type flex fields, N4 displays the Long Name of the flex field as the field ID in the Field ID lookup field and also as the field label in the gate form.

For a list of available field IDs, see:

  1. The Field Description is a read-only field and displays a short description for the selected field ID.

If you include a field in a gate form, N4 displays the Field Description as a tip when a user places the mouse over the field in the form.

  1. From the Display Mode drop-down list, select one of the following display modes for the selected field:

For fields that display as a button, such as the Hazards - Add/Edit field, the button displays and the user can select the button to open the associated form, but the fields in the form are not editable.

N4 treats data in hidden fields in the same way it does for fields displayed in a gate form. This means that N4 automatically fills in data for hidden fields when a related field has a value. In addition, N4 saves data in hidden fields against the transaction record. For example, if a booking is selected in a gate form but the related line operator field is hidden, N4 still automatically fills in the booking's line operator in the hidden field and saves it against the gate transaction.

  1. Select the Required check box, to make data entry in the selected field mandatory.

If the Required check box is selected for a field, N4 displays the field as a required field in the gate form.

  1. Click Add, to add the field to the gate form.

N4 displays all the fields added to a gate form in the All Fields area.

  1. Repeat steps 1 - 5 to add all the fields to the form.

  2. The order of the fields in the All Fields area, determines the order of the fields in a gate form.

Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons in the All Fields area to change the order of the fields.

The standard tab sequence for the gate forms is top to bottom and then left to right.

  1. Click Save.

After you add the form fields, you can use the Edit Business Tasks button to configure the business tasks for the selected gate transaction type. For more information, see Adding business tasks (on page 1).

In addition, you can verify the layout of your gate forms. For more information, see Verify the form layout (on page 1). After you add a gate form, you can change the layout, add more fields, delete fields, or change the order of the available fields at any time. For more information, see Editing a gate form (on page 1).
